IKEA Vanity – Maximum storage, Minimum space

Going into an IKEA store is probably like going into Santa’s little workshop, and with eyes wide open, you will experience all the amazing items IKEA had thought of – for the homeowner’s convenience.

IKEA had been around since 1943 when Ingvar Kamprad, at 17, started his own business when his father gave him money as a reward for doing well in school. IKEA was born; the name was derived from the owner’s initials IK and E for Elmtaryd and A for Agunnaryd, the two places where he grew up in Sweden. He only sold products that he thought people needed like pens, picture frames, wallets, watches and jewelry, even nylon stockings at low prices.

His business grew, adding furniture into his range of products, where he explored designs and endorsed self-assembly. Since then, IKEA had developed various products with the main and sole vision of making everyday life better for as many people as possible at affordable prices. Read more IKEA Vanity

Environmental Commitment

IKEA had always offered low prices but not at the expense of the people buying them; nor the environment. Whenever they develop a new product, they do not compromise on safety and quality, which are always top of mind factors, as well as the impact this has to the environment.

The wood that IKEA uses to produce its many products, IKEA ensures that they only come from forests that are managed responsibly. They do not accept illegally gotten wood, and it has always been a condition in its manufacturing processes.

If it is not certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, which is the only forest certification standard that IKEA supports, then it does not find its way into IKEA’s warehouses.

IKEA believes that problems such as illegal logging and the lack of FSC certified raw materials must be addressed, that is why it had forged partnerships with environmental groups such as the WWF and has involved itself in various projects for research and training for proper forest management.
