We look for all options to cut costs so that at the end of the project, we could say to ourselves that we got all this done for cheap.
Bathroom vanities have long been around and whether we are replacing our old cabinet or buying a new one to install in our bathroom, we shop around for the most affordable and cheapest items we can get. We look for the discounts!
What is a discount?
However, what is discount to you really? Discount means lower prices than the commercially published rates, but how does one get discounts without sacrificing quality?
It does not necessarily mean cheap materials or damaged goods. Most manufacturers or retailers offer discounts on quality products for good reasons:
- An item or style is discontinued or manufacturers had stopped production of this particular item in order that they can come up with new products, new models;
- An item used to be a showroom item with minor scratches that are not visible (i.e. inside a drawer or at the back of cabinet door panel);
- An item was an overstock. It did not sell therefore it is bound to be sold at a lower price;
- An item was directly from a manufacturer to a retailer with no agents or intermediaries on commission in between. Therefore, the savings the retailer passes it on to the customer.
So now that we know what discounts really mean, let us go shopping!
Where to buy
You may find most bathroom vanities at the manufacturers outlet stores, at home improvement centers (i.e. Home Depot, or Lowe’s), or through various online retailers (i.e. Discount Bathroom Vanities, Bath Kitchen and Beyond, Kitchen and Bath Warehouse, Overstock, Just Vanities, and Décor Planet to name a few).
It is most convenient to shop online as you are able to get real-time information about the product you are looking for. These sites present you with a dizzying display of choices in styles, colors, and designs.
However, when you shop online, you will not have the opportunity to check on the quality of the products materials and workmanship as you would when you are in the store where the product is right there for your inspection.
Another difference in shopping in stores is that the stock may be limited, whereas online you will see everything in their inventory.
In order that you can make this work for you, what you can do is browse online at their websites, make notes of possible choices; then make a call to the stores, and find out if these are available in store and if it is possible for you to look at them.
Make the appointment, and make that trip. It will be well worth your while if you are able to check the item first hand and find that the quality of the material and workmanship is top notch.
Whether you are able to find your dream bathroom vanity at a discount online or in stores, the important thing to remember is to buy good quality products that will last you for a long time and give you value for your money.
